Coming in release 2.0

Where the lights go out.

A map of Cebu Province, barangay by barangay, showing how often each area has lost power over the last twelve months. It is built from satellite night-light imagery (NASA's VIIRS "Black Marble" product, the same data used to map outages after typhoons), refreshed every week.

The map is the second thing we ship, after the batteries and the sizer. This page will carry a barangay search and a plain answer: "your area went dark N nights in the last 12 months."

What the map can and cannot see

It catches

Outages that last through the evening across a neighbourhood — measured once a night at roughly 500 metres per pixel.

It misses

Short daytime cuts and single-street faults. Cloudy nights leave gaps in the record.

When there is enough traffic to make it worthwhile, a "report a brownout" form will add what the satellite cannot see. The page will always say which layer a number came from. Meanwhile, the battery list is live, and the installer directory is taking listings.

Electric cars as home batteries

Some electric cars can run your appliances in a brownout. See which ones, and where to find them.
